A B O U T MARK DIAZ

ARTIST STATEMENT
My work is shaped by everyday moments and personal experiences that inspire me. While acrylic painting is my primary medium, I actively explore a range of materials and techniques. Recently, I have leaned more fully into experimentation—pushing my process, testing new approaches, and allowing the work to evolve organically. I view art as a living form of expression— constantly changing, expanding, and responding to the world around me.

BIOGRAPHY
Mark Diaz is a Texas-based artist whose work reflects both personal history and an ongoing commitment to artistic experimentation. Born in Northeast Lincoln, Diaz developed an early passion for drawing and painting, guided in part by his grandfather, a Mexican immigrant and accomplished artist whose influence continues to shape his creative practice. Diaz earned his degree in Education from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he was also a letterman on the Nebraska Football team (1983–1987). He later pursued formal studies in visual art at the Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design in Denver, Colorado. Working primarily in acrylics, Diaz incorporates mixed media elements— including resin and crushed glass—to create texture, depth, and movement within his pieces. His work bridges narrative and abstraction, rooted in lived experience while embracing process-driven exploration. Recent
career highlights include a featured artist interview with Canvas Rebel, a solo exhibition at Ten 20 Gallery, and a collaborative exhibition with Giddens Gallery. These milestones reflect his continued engagement with the contemporary art community and his evolving artistic voice. Diaz currently works from his studio in the Dallas Fort Worth area.
